"Luther & Cuthbert"
This project was inspired by fantasy weapons from Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons and Dragons.
The initial shapes were created with rasps, files, and a band saw, the body of the blade and the guard having been onstructed from mahogany. The pommel and guard were constructed from pieces laminating the main body. After the hilt and guard were assembled, stiff insulation foam was used to cushion the grip. . Secondary shaping was done with rasps and files; the pieces were finished with polyurethane, and vinyl tape grips.
